Rafia Zafar partners with St. Louis Metro Market's "Food Bus" on Community Cookbook Project

AFAS and English Professor Rafia Zafar has assisted in securing a grant from The Luminary supporting St. Louis Metro Market' Community Cookbook Project

Professor Rafia Zafar is collaborating with the St. Louis Metro Market "Food Bus" and numerous other partners to develop a Community Cookbook Project. With support from The Luminary's Futures-Fund Grant program, the group plans to develop "a feast for the eyes and soul of St. Louis" by engaging with multiple St.Louis communities served by the Metro Market “Food Bus” to assemble and represent collective narratives about our local food culture and treasured family recipes.

This community collaboration aligns with Professor Zafar's most recent book Recipes for Respect: African American Meals and Meaning, published in March 2019 by Southern Foodways Alliance Series/University of Georgia Press.
