Faculty Book Talk: 'Flatlining: Race, Work, and Health Care in the New Economy'

Adia Harvey Wingfield, sociology professor

Sociology professor Adia Harvey Wingfield will discuss her new work, Flatlining: Race, Work, and Health Care in the New Economy (University of California Press, 2019), where she explores “how hospitals, clinics, and other institutions participate in ‘racial outsourcing,’ relying heavily on black doctors, nurses, technicians, and physician assistants to do ‘equity work’—extra labor that makes organizations and their services more accessible to communities of color.”

This event is free and open to all. A reception will follow the talk, and copies of the book will be available for purchase.
